Revive Furniture's
mission is:
"to provide
low cost household items to people in need and to provide
work experience and training for long-term unemployed people
in the North East of England"
REVIVE FURNITURE was launched in October 2002 to help vulnerable families and individuals to furnish their homes by providing them with low cost furniture and to help long-term unemployed young adults into work with training and Work Experience opportunities.
Donated, unwanted furniture is collected from households throughout Northumberland and North Tyneside and then directed to the Revive warehouse and showroom.
This furniture is then made available, to people in need who find themselves on low income and need support in furnishing their home. People visit the warehouse with proof of their referral (or proof of benefits) and then select and pay a minimal charge for the items they have chosen. These items are then delivered free of charge.
We also offer supported work experience to people who are unemployed. Often people have brought up a family or cared for someone who had been ill and are trying to get a job without any prior experience. They may have experienced illness in the past and companies are unwilling to employ them because of this. Many have given up any hope of working. A lot of the people we support are successful in finding paid work.
